I discovered yoga during a difficult time in college, when a new diagnosis of a chronic autoimmune disease ultimately meant I could no longer run track. As someone who had over-identified with being an athlete, I felt like I was being locked into a new box which felt unfamiliar, a new identity of a "sick person."

The practice and teachings of yoga helped me feel well, and whole, again. Yoga allowed me to feel strong and safe in my body and to recognize and celebrate its many capabilities. Most importantly, it helped me to get rid of the labels and boxes I had created for myself and to simply get back to me.

There are labels, circumstances and experiences that pull us all away from our true selves-- so much that we may not even realize it-- but I believe you can always find your way back.
